“All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.” This is the official motto of the Three Musketeers, and it is also a popular rallying cry for ESFJs. As practical types, ESFJs know that cooperation and coordination lead to effective results, and as social types they get a big kick out of working on shared, collaborative projects. While they have a lot of good ideas of their own, ESFJs will respond with enthusiasm to the suggestions and contributions of their co-workers, and they will gladly play the part of cheerleader if they believe others need a boost in confidence. ESFJs as teammates are generous, respectful and approachable, and when they participate in work groups they almost always have a significant influence on the final outcome.

ESFJs can be quite blunt and opinionated. But in the workplace they are always focused on the task at hand, and nothing they say should ever be interpreted as a personal attack. “How can we do it better, faster or more efficiently?” These are the questions that occupy the minds of ESFJs on the job, and as stubborn as they can be, it would never occur to them to start hurling insults at someone simply because of a disagreement over work strategy. On those rare occasions when ESFJs do hurt the feelings of co-workers, they are more than willing to apologize and make amends later, after things have calmed down. Ultimately, the high standards of ESFJs are designed to promote excellence, and co-workers smart enough to listen to their suggestions are likely to benefit tremendously from the input they receive.

ESFJs possess superb organizational skills. They pay close attention to the details and are blissful when assigned to handle them, which makes them well-suited to play the role of second banana to visionaries and alpha leaders who don’t want to be bothered with the “small stuff.” ESFJs prize harmony and will willingly occupy lower spots on the hierarchy if their skills qualify them for those positions. Their abilities as planners, organizers and administrators will inevitably come in handy in just about any career field they choose to enter, and bosses in search of the perfect right-hand man or woman would be wise to hire an ESFJ immediately.
